Bag a Week: Zippered Box

I'm not sure I would call this a bag, but this zippered box does have space to hold things!

I found this large print twill at Britex, and bought it to make another tablecloth, but there was enough left over to make a blag-a-bag.

It's 10" wide, 9" tall, and 6" deep, with a zipper along the top and little matching tabs on the sides, to help with grabbing. Had I thought about it more, I would have put the tabs right up against the zipper to help with opening and closing.

It's kind of hard to tell, but the sides, bottom, and top of the box are all one piece of fabric. I have no evidence to support this, but I feel like seams along the bottom are potential stress points, but I dislike the lack of shape I get as a result.

I used an iron-on interfacing, but that wasn't really enough, and the twill is actually strong enough for this purpose. I think next time I'd put the seams in and have separate pieces. And maybe I should move away from grey and red for the next one, too. I guess I have a colour scheme?
